Of all my honors photo summer assignments, the “shadow study” was definitely my favorite. The assignment was simple- take pictures of shadows. I came across chandelier shadows by accident whilst lying on my bed. I have a chandelier above my bed (the one in the first picture) and noticed it cast a really cool shadow. That lead me to try and make a whole series based off this idea. You’ve be amazed how many cool shadows there are if you look up at a ceiling. I went into the houses of all my friends and family, and laid on the floor with my camera directly below the chandelier. I even did this once in a hotel, and although it garnered a few strange looks, it was definitely work it! Even though I am done with my shadow series, I still find my self looking at chandeliers and saying, “Wow, look at that shadow!” That’s alright though, because appreciating the little things is good! Another one of my summer assignments for my honors photography class was to take ten pictures of a body part in detail. I found that when I examined my hand, the lines, curves, and texture, it looked completely different. Macro shots tend to do that ; they provide a new and interesting perspective. Monochromatic // Silver

If you’re looking for a creative photography idea, you should try a monochromatic photoshoot! This means taking and editing ten good pictures that feature entirely one color. I choose silver, and then spent time photographing various and sundry silver objects around my house such as forks, knives, and cups. Reoccurring Object // Ring 

Over the summer, I received a really interesting assignment for my honors photography   class: take ten pictures with a reoccurring object. I figured that a small object would probably be easiest, and eventually I settled upon a vintage gold ring with a little green emerald heart to be my waldo. As you can see, it's a photogenic little ring, and has an enchanted air about it. I walked around the garden, looking for petals, stems, and leaves where I could hang and hide the ring. It was a really fun challenge that made me think in     creative ways. If this sounds like fun, try it out, and let me know how it goes!
